Barrel Length for Revolvers by Evil Roy

By far the most popular barrel length for revolvers is the 4 3/4 (or 4 5/8 on Rugers).  They have a long enough sight radius to be accurate and are short enough to be fast into or out of the holster.  There is not much difference in either speed or accuracy with the 5 1/2 inch guns.  Very few use a 7 1/2 inch handgun for the same two reasons.
